A two-step process for removing plugins
You know how sometimes you’ll be working on refining a sound, and you’ll bypass one of the plugins you have on it, and you’re pretty sure it’s an improvement? But you’re not 100% sure? Like, you need more time listening in context to be really sure it was the right move?
What I do in this situation is that I’ll bypass the plugin, but I won’t immediately remove it. And I’ll keep it like that until I’ve made the next bounce that I send to the artist.
And then the next time I open up the session, first thing I’ll do is I’ll go to the Mix window and see what channels have bypassed plugins — and if there weren’t any comments that need addressing that deal with that channel and might need a second look at that bypassed plugin, that’s when I’ll delete it.
