Bite, presence, and air

We hear the terms “bite,” “presence,” and “air” thrown about a lot when talking about the high end. But what do they mean?

• Bite: 3,000 Hz

• Presence: 5,000 Hz

• Air: 8,000 Hz

Try a boost at each frequency with a Q of 1.5 to see what I mean. Depending on the specifics of the source, you might have to go +/- 1000 Hz in either direction, but this is a great starting point.
