Do you need a deadline?
I don't need time. What I need is a deadline. — Duke Ellington
Is this you? Because it’s definitely me.
I’m lucky, because I happen to do production and mixing for work, and I’m pretty busy lately. So I don’t have the dubious luxury of delaying and procrastinating when it comes to my work — I need to go in there and get it done. And so I do!
But it made me want to ask: do you need a deadline? Or, related, do you need a little accountability around your music practice? Because I’m happy to help!
Here’s a challenge for you. That music thing that you’ve been procrastinating on — let’s give you a deadline! Let’s say five days from this email. So, Sunday afternoon / evening-ish.
If having an accountability partner is helpful to you, please feel free to use me for that — you can send me your results at this email address.
Maybe it’s a mix you’ve been putting off finishing; maybe it’s a song you’ve been putting off writing; maybe it’s a demo you’ve been putting off recording. Let’s do it! You can blame it on me.
Time and tide — jamie
