Exporting from Ableton for mixing elsewhere
I got a message this morning from our dear friend Christina Wheeler, apropos of yesterday’s post about exporting from Logic:
Are there any special tips for exporting to Pro Tools from Ableton?
That’s a good question! The general idea of course would be the same, but the devil’s always in the details. So I opened up Ableton to go through the process and check it out for myself (I own more DAWs than is probably recommended).
Everything seemed relatively straightforward, but I did have one thing I wanted clarification on, so I googled the manual entry for exporting … and discovered that there’s absolutely nothing that I would have to say about exporting to a mix engineer from Ableton that the Ableton manual doesn’t already say! It’s very thoughtfully and clearly written.
So there’s your answer. And it’s a good reminder, for me and for all of you: it never hurts to check the manual first. Frequently they’re confusing … but every so often they’re really good.
