Focus on the story
Because there is a significant technical component to the work of making recordings, it’s easy to get bogged down in that, and to miss the main point:
We are telling stories.
We are communicating feelings.
We are grappling with the world around us (this is why we make recordings), and we are helping other people do that also (this is why we share them).
What we are not doing: technical work. The point of making recordings is not the technical stuff. The point is the other stuff. The technical stuff is just the means to that end.
An emotionally resonant but technically imperfect recording is a winner. But a technically perfect recording of a mediocre song? Pointless.
