MAXIMUM JOY: help us bring "80s kids" to the world
Shannon and I have wrapped up the album cycle for our last record “Good to Me,” and now we’re sprinting headlong toward 2025 — and our new album and tour “80s kids.”
We’ve been working on this record slowly since early 2023, in between rounds of touring for Good to Me. We had no idea how well-timed it would end up being, given the dire election results in the USA last month and the implications for vulnerable people here going forward.
The bad guys have fear on offer — Shannon and I are countering that proposition with a proposition of our own, which we are calling MAXIMUM JOY. People are going to need all the joy they can get in 2025 — and Shannon and I aim to do everything we can to bring it to them with our 80s kids album and live shows.
To this end, we have been doing an album fundraiser for the last couple of weeks, raising money to help defray the capital-intensive work of birthing an album.
There are physical costs — vinyl, CDs, cassettes.
There are time costs — some of the money we have raised will help us continue to eat and live indoors while we make the rest of the 80s kids songs and design and produce and rehearse the live show.
And there are business development costs — the money we’re raising right now for our top goal, Goal 4, will help cover some of the costs for us to showcase next month at a performing arts center conference in NYC. This will hopefully help introduce a whole new national audience to our music and live shows.
The fundraiser is running for a couple more days. If you would like to support our work in the most tangible and direct way possible, please do so here. We are currently just a little under $2,000 away from hitting our top goal! We have a bunch of excellent thank-you gifts — ranging from vinyl to 80s kids tee shirts (check out the new Space Invaders design) to, at the top end, you choosing the next 80s kids song for us to record. 🙀
For people who have been wanting to support Jamie’s list but are waiting until I have time to migrate to Ghost, this is an excellent way to support my work directly without also supporting Substack.
Thanks for reading. Please support if you’re able. And I’ll be back with more Jamie’s lists soon!
Thank you ❤️ — jamie
