Separating tasks into silos
If you’re built anything like me, there’s a significant “SQUIRREL!” component to your self-guided work life. It can be hard to know what to do next when everything needs doing and everything seems urgent.
Something I’ve learned to do to help with this is to separate tasks out into silos. It’s really simple, but it’s been super helpful!
I find that I’m more creative in the later part of the day — like after 8pm — so I tend to do mix and production work then. And I save the more rote work — sound design, editing, organizing plugins, etc. — for afternoons.
When I’m separating out my tasks in the best way, I find that the stuff I’m doing in the afternoons clears space for and sets me up for maximum creativity in the evenings.
