What's slowing you down?
Is there something in your creative setup that's hampering your progress?
Like: maybe there’s something that’s been nagging at you. That you’ve been pushing aside in favor of focusing on the creative work at hand.
So take a moment. Is there something there? Has there maybe been something there for a while now?
And if there is something there, can you identify it? Specifically and precisely?
And, more importantly: can you do anything about it?
It's weird how easy it is to get used to something that isn't working. To figure out a workaround in a fast-moving moment, and then to adopt the workaround as The Way I Do This, without subsequently giving it a whole lot more thought than that.
But: what if you didn't have to keep doing the workaround? What if there were a better, more permanent way?
And what if it wouldn’t take you that long to figure out, if you just took a moment to pause, focus, and get honest with yourself about it?
Does it involve rearranging your physical space a little bit?
Does it involve taking the ten minutes to figure out an organizational system that you’ve been putting off?
Does it involve making a template? Or perhaps a default setting, that loads every time you load a certain piece of software?
Does it involve reading a manual (ew)?
And maybe, just maybe … is it worth taking a little time to take care of it right now, so that you can unburden your subconscious of it forever?
