You're not too old to do this
Just a quick encouragement today:
Shannon and I have been working at music devotedly since we were each about 21.
We weren’t able to support ourselves full-time with music work until we were 33 and 31 respectively.
I didn’t have my first Billboard-charting record as a mix engineer until I was 39. (Don’t get all excited, it was a little indie record on little indie charts. I was still proud of it though; it felt like an inflection point in my work.)
Shannon released her first full-length album at 38 and didn’t experience her first moment of breakout success until she was 40.
We performed our first headlining theater show just this year, when she and I were 48 and 50.
If we’d listened to what the default music industry was trying to tell us, we would’ve stopped working at this decades ago. And we would have missed all of those amazing moments.
You’re not late, you’re right on time. Keep going. 🤘🖤 — jamie
