Tech day
I took a tech day today — I spent the whole night just doing non-music things with my music computer.
I organized my plugins; installed some new ones, and removed a bunch that I never use.
I went through a couple of drum sample packs1 I’d purchased over the last few months, selected favorite sounds, and made Trigger and TAL Sampler presets for them.
I made extremely sure that last night’s automatic backup of my music computer was bootable (it was, and I knew it was, but you have to check) — and then I upgraded my Pro Tools to the new version.
So now, tomorrow, when I start mixing this new EP that I have on my plate, I will have an optimized and streamlined Pro Tools rig, with some exciting new-to-me features, and with a few new sounds to boot!
What a good thing to do. I’d been putting it off for literally months; always just a bit too busy.
What housekeeping have you been putting off? Would getting it taken care of open up a new horizon or two for you, as mine did for me?
Feeling refreshed — jamie
Do you all know about drum sample packs? You can get them so cheap, and they can instantly widen your sonic palette.
